Glenfiddich is the most popular Single Malt in the world. In fact, they are so big that when we got there and started our tour, we were honestly shocked to be told they are independantly owned. We had mistakenly assumed they were part of another huge beverage conglomerate like Pernod Ricard or Diageo. Now that we know better, good for them!

Property from the parking lot.

Daffodils coming up.

Inside the mash tun

Fifteen stills in this stillhouse. (two of them are beside me) I believe he said there were EIGHT stillhouses. WOW.

Glenfiddich 1937. A bottle of this was recently auctioned off for $20,000. Thats not just a price tag in a store. Thats what someone ACTUALLY paid for it.

Inside the Cooperage onsite. Technically part of the Balvenie site, but both are owned by Glenfiddich.

A LOT of barley on the malting floor.

The pro turning the barley.

And then there's me.

Inside the kiln.

Looking at the inside of the pagoda roof.

The kiln floor. Trust me when I say it feels like Tucson and smells like heaven.

Our tour guide. :) Hee. Kilt.

$20,000???? YOWZA. I wonder if they drank it? ;)
There WAS a guy, however, who spent 35 thousand pounds on a bottle of whiskey and then opened it and proceeded to consume it with four of his friends and the manager of the hotel bar he bought it from.
Thats what I'm talking about. Buy it and drink it, man. Thats how it ought to be!
