Bats and Castles
I love ruined castles. I almost love them more than still standing castles, because my imagination rebuilds it for me and I see it the way it was, before it crumbles back to the way it stands now.

Balvenie Castle stands on the hill above Glenfiddich, looking out over Dufftown and the highlands, a silent witness.

That's amazing. The history! I love old castles, even just old houses. I feel like the soul of a building develops as it ages. And places like this are like living entities.

Agreed! It was so cool to see and be up close! I only wish it would have been open so we could see the courtyard!

Hey! That one was built by and seat to my clan, until the murder of the Red Comyn by Robert Bruce. An Cuimeanach!

I'm a Scotch pervert - one who prefers women to whisky. ;)

I drank my share and then some of Glenfiddich in my younger days!

Can you imagine what it must be like to live there? I bet they take all that history for granted. Thank goodness you don't. Amazing pics.
