Glenfinnan Viaduct

Glenfinnan Viaduct was at the top of the list of Things I Had To See In Scotland. Luckily, it was very close to the route we took from Inverness to Oban, and it worked out spectacularly. Apart from the visitor's center being closed, and there not being a public restroom for miles.

The Loch across the highway from the Viaduct. I swear they used that loch in GoF.

The viaduct and a bit of sunlight.

Luckily, the road goes right through the arch!

So does the stream!

Seriously, how beautiful is that?

I climbed a huge boulder to get this one. :)

Wide angle.

And up the road just a bit, with a spectacular view of the Loch, is this old church.

Which we fully believe is Hogwart's.

It was a wee bit too much to hope for another rainbow. But we got a perfect day. How many of those do you get? It was amazing. I'll never forget it as long as I live.

There is a commerical out now for "The Brides Maid" or some other sappy movie coming out, in which the previews show a church and backdrop which I swear is the Glennfinnan Church. It was odd as when I saw the commerical I was like "Hey. . .I was at that place!"

Me too! That has to be in my top five moments from the series. Right up there with the Weasley twins leaving Hogwarts and saying 'Give her hell from us, Peeves" :)

Thanks!

I LOVE ALL OF THESE PHOTOS!! I LOVE THEM!! These are so amazing! The colors are like a tortoiseshell cat, you can feel the stones in the viaduct and see how big it is and that church looks so moldy and old like a witches hat.

Awesome!!

It was AMAZING. And so incredibly surreal. I kept waiting to hear the whistle of the Hogwarts express. :)
