Whale Watching in the Gulf of Maine.

We left Boston aboard a huge catamaran at 1230, and were informed over a loudspeaker that they could not actually guarantee a whale sighting. Before anyone could finish their sigh, the voice continued, and stated that the most recent sighting was the day before. So we had hope.

Still, what we saw exceeded my wildest expectations. There must have been twenty of them out there, surfacing and diving and floating along and all with a slow sort of grace and calm that was contagious.

There are a ton more over at the gallery, if you want to check them out. I just didn't want to put a post up with 90 whale tails in it. ;)

Boston, words and pictures.
FINALLY!! I know!!

Our Boston trip started with dinner at Legal Seafood (the first!) and a trip down into the Faneil Hall area for bar hopping. We drank and had a fantastic time, especially at the Black Rose, and made it back to the hotel room in one piece. Well, two pieces, as Ann and I are seperate entities.

The next morning we woke not feeling entirely wonderful, and spent some time hanging out in the room and chilling. Around 11 we left, and wandered down the waterfront until we came to a little place called the Sail Loft, where we had a cup of chowdah and a half sandwich. It was PERFECT.

Home again...
Back from Boston.

It was AMAZING. I had a really good time, we got to see almost everything we wanted to see (still haven't gotten to go into the Aquarium, and Salem was too far away for a weekend trip!).

We had a fabulous trip. I love Boston, I really do. Everyone is super nice! Its so great to walk around those gorgeous streets, and the weather was amazing. Also, seriously. What do they feed men up there? The majority of them are all over six foot and huge. At first I thought we were in the bar with like the Harvard rowing or Lacrosse team or something, but the more we walked around, the more we noticed how freaking TALL all the guys are. WTF? Is it the seafood? The harbor breeze? What gives, New Englanders?

More details to follow, including several cards full of pictures. Tons of the city, more of the whales we saw on Sunday. We must have seen 15 of them. They were AMAZING. Whale watching is incredible, it was so peaceful and beautiful and they were such cuties! They waved at us! And showed us their tales! Err, flukes. Whatever.
