New Community
I have reached the 'denial' state of grieving over the loss of BSG.

Today I started a new community at [info]redstapler's suggestion. Its called [info]lolfraks.

Hit it. Join up. Make stupid macros. Keep the lulz alive.

Here's a sample:

The End...
Last night I was driving home from training, and I decided that going home to a big empty house was not appealing. I knew the Caps were playing, so I called up my buddy Brandon and ended up going over to his place to watch the game.

It was awesome. I enjoyed it a lot. I went grocery shopping on the way home and then ended up doing a bunch of dishes and cleaning out the fridge to put the groceries away. I need to do that more often, hee.

All day I've been thinking about the Galactica finale tonight. I'm not ready for it to be over. I've been simultaneously excited and kind of depressed all day.

So, based on a spectactular post of [info]wisteria_'s which can be found here, and the help of wiki quote, I'm pulling together a list of my favourite lines. Its bittersweet. I can't WAIT to watch it. But I don't want to...because that will mean its over.

Sigh. At least I still have Supernatural.

And wthout further adieu:

"The lady's in charge."

'The lesson learned here is not to ask follow-up questions, but simply to say "Thank you, Captain Apollo, for saving our collective asses!" '

"No more Mister Nice Gaius!"

"Good Hunting"

"Bitch took my ride."

"You know, everyone I know... is fighting to get back what they had. And I'm fighting 'cause I don't know how to do anything else."

"It's not enough to survive. One must be worthy of survival."

"Oh, you all can see her as well?"

"Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We're evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go."

"Wow, look at that. You literally drank Anders under the table."

"I LOVE Kara Thrace, and I don't give a FRAK who knows!"

"Follow me. PLEASE."

"What, do they have a forest fire down there?"

"I don't want the statue! You keep the statue!"

And finally...

"You lead them all to their end"

Feel free to add your own...

BSG Panel at the United Nations
Thanks to [info]bobbarker for the links :)

Ron D Moore, David Eick, Mary McDonnell and Edward James Olmos, amongst others participated in a panel at the United Nations last night regarding some themes in BSG that are relative to current times. They discussed war, torture, morality, negotiation and terrorism and delved pretty deeply into human rights.

Very interesting, and incredibly awesome.

A 'Battlestar Galactica' panel discussion at the United Nations

The good news is the entire thing is online in the archives.
The bad news is you have to install Real Player to view it.

Direct Real Player Link to the entire two hour panel.

For a show that doesn't get taken seriously far too often because it's "Sci-fi", I would think this is a resounding endorsement for giving it another shot, if you're not already watching it.

Strange times.
Had a fantastic weekend:

Got not enough sleep.

Probably got sick.

Stalked Sergei Fedorov and Alex Ovechkin as they rolled into the Verizon Center Sunday

Photographed Jessi touching Mike Green's Lambo and watched some random girl accidentally kick it trying to get out of the crowd and then run away mortified hoping no one noticed.

Laughed a lot at Jessi's phenomenal photo of Sidney Crosby making the worlds greatest bitchface.

Watched Penguins climb out of taxis and laughed at Bill Guerin's bubble butt...and the fact that he wears a suit to accentuate it.

Ate at La Tasca. YOM!

Got my ass kicked in Jay's garage.

Ate at Melting Pot. Seriously...chocolate covered marshmallows in chocolate caramel nut sauce. Overkill! HAHA

Watched BSG. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. Am continually in love with Tahmoh's abilities as an actor. Wow, did I almost lose it in a room full of people.

Turned three new people onto Dollhouse. That episode was phenomenal.

I'm still sorting through the photos from the whole weekend, including the awesome stalkerazzi shots of the Ovi Aston Martin and Mr. Fedorov's ridiculous Maserati with expired plates.

I'll put them up soon, cause I'm trying to distract myself from the fact that there is going to be a layoff here tomorrow. Here we go again, huh?

Keep your fingers crossed for me. I really love my job, and I hope I get to keep it.

I never got a chance to re-watch it yet, which is what I usually do before making commentary, but its already time for a new one, so here goes with random spouting.

FINALLY!!
SCI FI Green-Lights Caprica

SCI FI Channel has given a green light to Caprica, ordering 20 hours of the much-anticipated prequel to its hit series Battlestar Galactica, the network announced.

The drama, which kicks off with a two-hour pilot movie, stars Eric Stoltz, Esai Morales, Paula Malcomson and Polly Walker.

Set 50 years before the events in Battlestar Galactica, Caprica follows two rival families--the Graystones and the Adamas--as they grow, compete and thrive in the vibrant world of the 12 Colonies, a society recognizably close to our own.

They've been talking about it for long enough!

Random Updates.
-I haven't mentioned it, but my hip is totally jacked up. I think its burcitis, as I have similar symptoms to what my mom had. I have forsaken the elliptical for now and have been on the bike for 30 min a day...everyday, and it is getting better. Hope that keeps up, because riding a bike is doing nothing for my fitness, so I'd like to be able to at least alternate, but I'm not doing that until the pain goes away entirely.

-I Fandangoed (scaramouche!) tickets to see Twilight on Friday night. Its going to be a disaster treat. I am meeting a couple of friends who are not all srs bzns about it beforehand for drinks, and I'm pretty certainly taking a flask, because it is the only way to prevent hand to hand combat with 15 year olds who can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality. ;) Also, I think the movie is going to be HILARIOUS, and not because they're aiming for that. But there's enough hotness on that screen to make me not fucking care.

-Speaking of Kellan Lutz, I started watching Generation Kill last night. Its GOOD. (But then most of you knew that and have been trying to get me to watch it since it started!) Also, I don't know all of the character's names yet, but the dude who is driving the HumV with the reporter in it? Is he TOTALLY channelling Bale's Patrick Bateman, or am I crazy? Cause I'm kind of waiting for him to start in on Huey Lewis & the News any second.

-Anyone catch the latest mini-spoiler for BSG? Its apparently only a spoiler for the Webisodes. Can I just say, I TOTALLY saw this coming?

-People are taking Talk Like A Pirate day a little too seriously, I think.

-And finally....its cold.

That is all. ;)

A few bits and pieces.
My friend's 12 year old does the BEST impression of Col Tigh saying "ITS IN THE FRAKKIN SHIP!!!" that I've ever heard. I love going to visit them. He's the greatest kid!

I got a collections letter from AFNI about my Verizon Online debt. That would be the same Verizon Online debt for my ACTIVE account which is in the POSITIVE (they owe me $53, by their own admission). This shit never ends. I've been on the phone with them for an hour at a time every month since January. They keep telling me its all good.

Incensed doesn't begin to cover it.

Tomorrow after work, I get to go to NYC and have dinner with [info]phunkyb1tch and [info]redstapler and [info]airspaniel (hopefully). I'm excited. Saturday night [info]phunkyb1tch and I have tickets to see Equus. Saturday we're also going to Ellis Island, and then hopefully the Village. STILL WANT JOHN'S PIZZA. Sunday we're hitting 5th Avenue where I can afford to buy exactly 10% of one item. Still, [info]phunkyb1tch has never been to NY and 5th avenue is spectacular to walk down, if for just the amazing clocks. Also, FAO Schwartz! There are so few of them left.

I'm freaking stoked.

I'm so tired and sore from working out hard for the last three days. And I have hot yoga tonight. Hopefully the stretchy + bendy will make the muscles shut up and quit whining.

I still haven't heard back on the parking ticket I got the last time I was down there. I had called in to report that the meter wasn't accepting all the money I was putting into it, prior to parking there, and yet I got a ticket. You'd think by now they'd have tossed it out. If I have to pay a $25 dollar fine in addition to the $8 bucks in quarters I pumped in to that thing trying to get it up to two hours, I'm going to scream.

Why does the everyone in the world want my frakkin money whenever I haven't got any?

I like coffee. Coffee is good.

Monday BSG Panel: Hatch and Penikett
With Hurricane Gustav bearing down on Gulf Coast, several of the actors bailed out early, probably to make sure their connecting flights didn't get cancelled.

Tahmoh came down for the panel despite having a huge queue waiting for him on the walk of fame and left early to finish signing as much as he could.

Tahmoh Penikett: Dollhouse Panel
So, yeah. Everyone knows I have a giant crush on him, right? So let's talk about what a rock star he is, coming out to a panel in that spectacular outfit. THE HAT!

Also, considering how horrendous we all felt that morning, it can't have been easy for him to come down and sit there and answer questions. Seriously, it was all I could do to remain upright. This was 10AM on the morning after the TCF party that absolutely OWNED.

So, the panel was FULL to standing room only. It was a smaller room, I don't think they understand the power of Tahmoh. That and the power of the idea that Joss Whedon is doing another show!

Anyway, on to the photos.

This one, right here? Is my desktop. It makes me smile in the morning when I boot up my lappy. Which isn't easy.

Again, HUGE shout out to the lighting crew at the Marriott. Absolutely perfect. Anyone who used a flash in this panel missed some perfect lighting.

BSG Mega-Panel
The BIG BSG panel on Friday was held in the Marriott Atrium Ballroom and as far as I can tell, it was FULL. Amazing!

Can I also add that the lighting in that room was FANTASTIC? I didn't need my giant flash one time. Gorgeous!

Dragon*Con Photos, Day 2.
Since there weren't very many shots from Friday, I'm throwing Saturday's out right now too.

Clearly, this one WINS.

Although somehow, I always end up looking like a fangirl!

So here's the story. We're at the BSG party, and the guys all come out, and after a ROUSING crazy awesome speech from Eddie Olmos, they're all wandering around the crowd. So I walked up to Tahmoh, and I said 'Hi, so I got a photo with you two years ago? In which I look like a complete tool." So he says "Well, let's do it again!"

And then this random guy says to me "You still look like a complete tool with that eyebrow piercing."

I'm like WHAT? WTF? Who says something like that? To a complete stranger?

So I'm like grrr, and then Jenn goes to take the picture, and Tahmoh leans over, and says right into my ear: "Don't even listen to that guy. He's an idiot."

So of course, I'm like AWWWWW. What a nice thing to say! And with me, what you see is what you get. If I'm thinkin it, its probably in my body language. So, there you have it. That, right there? That's my AWWW face.

HAHAHA. I surrender. I'm just going to make a shirt that says Tahmoh Fangirl. Maybe I can get him to sign it. Maybe when I'm wearing it.

And we'll just pretend that if he was standing up straight, I wouldnt look like a midget next to him. Cause the man is seriously tall.

More photos this way! )

Before I leave Saturday behind, I just have to say that the Colonial Fleet is frakking SPECTACULAR and that they throw a hell of a party. I will never miss another one, even if it means standing in line for it. It was the BEST!

Stay tuned for Sunday!!

ETA: If you are IN any of these photos and you want me to take them down, please let me know! No offense intended and I don't have everyone's names, so I can't really ask permission. But I'll gladly remove them if you don't want them in the public domain :)
